Adrenal Stress Relief Ingredients
About the ingredients:
Pregnenolone and DHEA—Pregnenolone is a pro-hormone which has been shown to have anti-stress and energizing effects. During the 1940s, Drs. Pincus and Hoagland gave dosages of the hormone to factory workers, pilots and flight students. The workers showed increased production rates, less fatigue and a greater ability to cope with their jobs. It has been shown to improve mood, have anti-inflammatory affects, reduce menopausal symptoms, and improve memory. Dihydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) is a hormone produced by the adrenal gland. It is the most prevalent steroid in the human body, and can be converted to produce both male and female sex hormones. It has been shown to improve symptoms of adrenal insufficiency, improve mood, and have anti-aging and many other positive affects.
Whole Adrenal Glandular, Adrenal Cortex Glandular, Spleen Glandular—glandular therapy is one of the cornerstones to Traditional Chinese Medicine and India's Ayurvedic Medicine. Glandular therapy provides the raw materials to the stressed organs, glands, and tissues so that they can start the process of regeneration.
Biochemist Jeffrey Bland, Ph. D., suggested a rational explanation for how glandular therapy products work. According to him, glandular-based food supplements may contain small polypeptide, protein-like substances which have specific messenger activity and which act on target tissues. Dr. Bland suggested that many of the hormones found in the glandular tissues, even at low concentrations, still have potent tissue-specific activities. For example, a small polypeptide material present in one tissue can have selective effects in encouraging another tissue at a different site in the body to produce hormonal materials, which then may affect a final target tissue and change its physiological function.
Ashwaganda Root (Winter Cherry)—Ashwaganda is an Ayurvedic herb which increases energy, supports the immune system, reduces the negative effects of stress (called an “adaptogen”, slows tumor growth, and treats anxiety and insomnia.
Grape Seed Extract—contains procyanidins, which protect the body from aging by increasing the body’s vitamin C levels. It binds with collagen to promote cellular health and skin health. Procyanidins are known to exert anti-inflammatory, anti-arthritic and anti-allergic activities, to prevent skin aging, to scavenge oxygen free radicals and to inhibit the damaging effects of UV radiation from sunlight. In other words, it protects the body from the effects of stress.
Ginger Root—besides helping with nausea and digestive problems, ginger root has been shown to have anti-inflammatory effects and supports the immune system. Because stress causes inflammation and immune dysfunction, ginger assists in combating these.
Eleuthero Root (Siberian Ginseng)—an “adaptogen” that helps the body adapt to stress by supporting adrenal gland function. It has been shown to enhance mental acuity and physical endurance without the letdown that comes with caffeinated products. It has also been shown in animal studies to support the body as a protective against environmental toxins. It also supports the immune system.
Rhodiola Rosea—also considered an “adaptogen.” Amongst the many benefits attributed to it are improvements in memory, concentration and attention span; reduction of anxiety and panic attacks; the alleviation of depression; and a decrease in mental and physical fatigue. The dual action of cognitive stimulation and emotional calming creates benefits for both immediate cognitive and memory performance and for the long-term preservation of brain functions. And, as an antioxidant, Rhodiola Rosea may help protect the nervous system from oxidative damage caused by free radicals.
Schizandra Seed—in Traditional Chinese Medicine, schizandra is used as an adaptogen. It protects the liver from damage from toxins. It increases energy while calming the mind, and is useful in anxiety and insomnia. It builds strength and reduces fatigue. It is also supportive of the respiratory system.
Rosemary Leaf—contains many powerful anti-oxidants and a number of compounds that reduce the breakdown of acetylcholine in the brain, and has been used as a memory enhancer. It is used to stimulate the circulatory system and calm the digestive system. It is ideal for the digestion when the problems are caused by emotional stress. The rosemary leaf extract also has antibacterial and astringent properties and can lift the emotional state.
